The comments and the votes for a video, kept somewhere Google doesn't run.
A video page, the same video, playing from YouTube as it always does. The difference is underneath it. The up and down votes, the comments and the replies are held on this server, not theirs — so the downvote works, the order is the order things were written in, and nothing gets ranked by anything.
Alongside them you get YouTube's own figures, including a reconstructed dislike count, because they still take dislikes and still don't show you the number.
Every page also carries a count of how many people think that video ought to exist somewhere outside Google, and how many say they already hold a copy. Nothing is uploaded here and nobody's word is checked. It is a register of intent, not a library.
It matters because of what happens when something goes. The video disappears; the page doesn't. It keeps the date, the discussion, and the count of who says a copy survives.

One person, on a machine at home in London. No company, no funding, no advertising, nothing sold, and no plan to change any of that. It exists because someone in a comment thread pointed out that the like-to-dislike ratio used to tell you whether a video was worth your time, and that seemed worth answering rather than agreeing with.
No video is hosted here — playback comes from YouTube and they see that traffic, the same as if you had gone there directly. Dislike figures are estimates from Return YouTube Dislike, not counts, and they rest on a small sample. Custody claims are self-reported and nobody checks them. Whoever runs this server can edit what's on it, which is why pages get copied to the Internet Archive where they can't be — compare them if you doubt any of it.
